This was a minor epiphany for me the other day. I got into a bit of a twist with my wife yesterday about going over going to her family's house and I said some rude things. Sometimes I should just shut my mouth before I speak...
Anyway, she was rightfully hurt by it, and I was feeling pretty bad about how I'd behaved, but I still wasn't thrilled about going. And then I remembered Jesus says, "Love your enemies."
Well... My in-laws may not be my favorite people to spend vacation time-off with, but they are FAR less threatening than any perceived 'enemy' of mine. And here I was: Not even meeting a minor interpretation of "Love your enemy". Man...
That really put it into perspective. (I could offer it as pennance!) :)
Anyway, it seemed to really change my perspective, so I thought I'd put it out there, because I think in-laws during the holidays is something that a lot of people can relate to.
