The thread is under moral theology, titled: Why do many say "I'm so proud of you"? pride=sin
We are all having trouble deciding if the word 'proud' is being used improperly. Meaning that the sentence "I'm proud of my son/daughter", should it really leave out 'proud' & replace it with what a person is truly trying to say "I'm so pleased with my son/daughter" or "My son/daughter gives me great joy" or "Son/Daughter, God has blessed us both; let us praise Him"?
Are we being careless with this word?
I think of the word gay. If I say Jack is gay. And you know he's a child. gay=happy. If I don't know Jack and mean to say Jack is happy, why not just leave out the word gay?
