okay, this is not for atheists or protestors (regardless is the protest from inside or outside of the church). If you are not a practicing catholic I am not really interested in your input on this particular matter. Please feel free to post else where no offence intended.

For those of you who fit the criteria, I am really curious, other then the few notable exceptions of out standing bishops, is it really the general consensus here that the bishops are doing a really good job when it comes to catechises and basic Moral Theology?

I was flamed on this site for stating that they have done an obviously poor job over the last 50ish years particularly in the area of moral theology. I thought this point would be a no brainer with the out right rejection of on human life. to the point of teaching against the Pope. We have bishops publishing in there diocesan newsletter that homosexuality is a gift from God. really I don't recall that in my catechism. Seminaries that have become known for there lack of orthodoxy and there acceptance of homosexuality have, for much of the country, become the norm. Thankfully some action is now being taken but only because the problem exploded in the media. I also noted the failure of the bishops as a whole to address the really serious problem of the homosexuality in the priesthood itself. Even with the Pope saying this should be a priority for them. they only addressed what the media told us all was the issue. The bishops actually allowed the media to dictate the issues they would resolve.

RCIA? who thinks in general this program is anything but a sad joke? really go ahead I'm not being abusive or sarcastic. This is not some huge emotional argument, but really who thinks CCD classes have been passing on that good catholic theology?

Because I see the USCCB being an almost irrelevant talking head (in there actions) They sound off on global warming, and gun control among other things. Okay not bad we understand there personal positions and hey they are bishops and there opinion carries some weight great. Where is the big out cry against contraception? I have never heard this from anyone who had to own the pulpit later.

Really removed from anger and emotion, can anyone make me feel a bit better about so many documents the USCCB puts out that obscure the real issues. Does anyone really think that these bishops, in apparent open revolt only now waking up as it all falls apart, are doing a good job at teaching.
