Am I alone in preferring to confess to younger priests? I'm nearly fifty, and my experience is that it's actually a lot easier to talk to younger priests in the confessional, paradoxically, because they are more conservative. With them, the attitude is that the Church is what it is; it stands for certain things, and if you stand with the Church, then you must stand for these things as well. There's less waffle, the rules are clear and what's expected is made apparent.
With the older, Vatican II generation of priests, there tends to be a certain "all things to all men" kind of uncertainty. I guess the question I'm asking is, do you think that the Church is beginning to renew itself through these younger men, and may we expect a new flourishing in the decades to come?
